Welcome to the Kentucky Orchid Society website. We are all about orchids and bringing people and orchids together, which is where the excitement starts. 2012 is going to be a fun and exciting year as we move forward with our monthly meetings.
Our members are our greatest asset and make us what we are. They come from all walks of life and have varied levels of expertise with growing orchids. Our diversity of knowledge and experience makes everyone welcome regardless of their level of growing orchids. If you want to have a social forum to expand your knowledge of orchids, ask questions or exchange ideas this is the best place to make it happen.
Although we haven’t finalized arrangements for guest lecturers, you can expect the Kentucky Orchid Society to continue to invite guest speakers on a variety of interesting topics. There is no better way to expand your knowledge and improve your ability to grow beautiful orchids.
KOS FALL ORCHID SHOW
We are very pleased to announce that our Fall Orchid Show is scheduled for September 29 and 30, 2012. We have reorganized, re-tooled a bit and have a new location: St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, 330 Hubbards Lane, Louisville, KY. We will post additional information at ‘Events’ as it nears. If you would like to get involved by offering your skills, talent or time, please email any of our officers whose email address is listed at “About Us” or come to our next meeting. Our great volunteers are our best asset!
We mourn the loss of our friend and member, Sandor Gyimesi, on Monday, January 16. We will miss his smiling face and pleasant presence at our meetings. It was a pleasure and our honor to have Sandor as part of our group and he will be missed. Our hearts and love go to Martha and his family. If you wish to send a memorial donation on behalf of Sandor, please send to the Kentucky Orchid Society, c/o Richard Humke, Treasurer, 200 S. Galt Avenue, Louisville, KY, 40206. A note will be sent to his family to advise of your generosity. Thank you.
